HYGIENE MONITORING SYSTEM IN TOILETS USING IOT
Project Abstract:
Smart hygiene monitoring system in Toilets is a maintenance free technology that consists of People Density Counter and air quality Sensor. Data collected with analytics provide predictive cleaning and inventory usage. This technology improves productivity of cleaning companies. Data collected with analytics provide predictive inventory usage. This technology is expected to improve the productivity of cleaning companies. Dengue Fever critically Affects tamilnadu due to the unhygienic environment and poor sanitation maintenance. This project provides a hygiene monitoring system for the complete city, where you can identify the sanitation level of the places.

Technologies that count the number of user going past the toilet's main
door and ammonia sensors. This system is expected to improve the productivity
of cleaning companies by up to 50 percent. Toilets are usually cleaned at
regular intervals, regardless of the number of times the toilet is used. The feedback button installed in the Toilet
enables the user to provide alert on dirty toilets. It maintains the sanitation
and prevents diseases which can cause illness and death.

Analysis
A. Customer Need Identification
Most of the toilets
in India are unclean and unhygienic because the cleaners not clean the toilets regularly.
And the users are not provided with the feedback. Thus a hygiene system is mandatory
for the public to analyze and inform the cleaning personnel and the authorities
about the toilet for better maintenance.
B. Serviceable Addressable Market (SAM)
Identification & Justification
The
market share for the hygiene monitoring system is quite less as this product is
mostly not available in market. But the need of this product is very high in
all over the world. Thus the product will attain a 10 percentage of the target
market at startup and will achieve more than half of the total addressable
market as the serviceable addressable market. The following graph shows the use
of toilets and the need of hygiene monitoring system.
C. Product Differentiation w.r.t. Competition & Justification :
No provision is done for the public toilets to be hygiene in INDIA. Our Project will play a major role in SWACCH BHARATH. This system is designed to be maintenance free, cost effective and has a scalable sensor network system.
D. Understanding of your customer &

Proposed
Design
A. Objective
This proposed
system presents a real-time display of people density, ammonia odor level and
feedback button to help improve the productivity and effectiveness of building
owners, Facilities Management (FM) and cleaning companies, by remotely
monitoring the cleanliness status of restrooms. This is to allow
for cleaners to be dispatched as needed, rather than at fixed
intervals. The hygiene monitoring system allows the building owner, FM and
cleaning companies to monitor usage across multiple restrooms and use the data
to plan resources ahead of time based on usage patterns. Thus the restroom
visit monitoring system is the efficient way to allocate resources for
building owners, FM and cleaning industries. As soon as the mq135 detects,
a extra cistern having phenol is flushed to remove the smell and maintain the
freshness till the toilet is cleaned.
B. Proposed Solution
Explanation
Mq135 sensor senses the air quality and gives values to CC3200, when
this value exceeds the threshold value it will intimate the cleaning personnel
and municipal authority with a call and SMS alert using Nexmo online cloud
service. So the personnel can clean and maintain the hygienic condition at
toilets. Even if the sensor fails the public is provided with an option to
press a switch to notify the personnel. So this makes the ease to maintain
hygiene at public toilets. And the system will count the number of people and
when this value exceeds the threshold value it will intimate the cleaning
personnel and municipal authority with a call and SMS alert.
The
proposed solution also flush some anti bacterial solution like phenol in a
cistern after mq135 is detected till toilet is cleaned.

Innovativeness
of the Proposed Solution
The smart toilet system is designed to be
maintenance free, cost effective and has a scalable sensor network system.
It comprises hardware - an ultra low power ultrasonic sensor for people
counting and ammonia sensors, algorithms, gateway, server and interface
software that perform mesh data collection, data storage and mining, and data
exploration and visualization.
Through data management and mining, the frequency of
usage and the ammonia level can be computed and alerts can be send via phone
call or SMS. Also, a web-based application provides an extensible suite of
tools that allow users to explore and visualize the collected sensor data. The
entire platform is designed in such a way that it can easily
implemented at any toilet fuss-free.
Impact
of the proposed solution
This technology
offers a "clean-on-demand" model, allowing the building/facilities
owners, FM and cleaning companies to deploy their manpower resources more
efficiently. It allows for better maintenance of toilet cleanliness, and
sets a higher standard of cleanliness of the toilets. It is also a convenient
way of obtaining relevant real-time information on usage and odour levels in
toilets.
